L’objectif Sigma 8-16mm est un ultragrand angle pour capteur APS-C ou S35. Son angle de champ de 120°-80° est équivalent à celui d’un 12-24mm en Fullframe.
Piqué dès la pleine ouverture cet objectif présente une distorsion maîtrisée sur l’ensemble de sa plage focale. Ce n’est pas un objectif fisheye.
Aujourd’hui, c’est la plus courte focale existante (avec l’Arri Ultra Prime 8mm R) pour les caméra S35 comme la Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k, la Red Komodo ou l’Arri Alexa Mini.
