Les fluctuations d'aberration sphérique liées à une mise au point rapprochée ont été éliminées et des images de très haute qualité sont obtenues à toutes les distances de mise au point. Le diaphragme à 8 lamelles permet d'obtenir de superbes flous en arrière-plan. Un limiteur de plage de mise au point intégré permet de réduire le rapport de grandissement à 0,25x.
Cet objectif CANON 100 mm est compatible avec le pare-soleil CANON ET-67.
